Our livestock is always changing so please email via the contact us page if you are interested and we will let you know about stud cockerels, pairs or trios available. Please note livestock is collection only or meeting at shows/sales throughout the year. We will use a courier if required as long as the buyer of the bird organises this.
Over a 3 year period we have successfully developed the chocolate gene into large fowl orpingtons. We are now producing F3 and F4 generation livestock this year, we have three different breeding pens and we are crossing the chocolates out to blacks in various combinations to further improve type now that the correct size has be achieved, but please do be careful as there are lots of people selling large fowl chocolate orpingtons when they are only middle sized birds or have only been crossed out once. The chocolate gene is very interesting as this gene is a naturally occurring mutant sex-linked recessive gene. We created the LARGE FOWL CHOCOLATE ORPINGTON from the chocolate bantam and are trying extremely hard to get with our chocolate large orpingtons to show quality using our Black orpingtons which are of the highest quality being David Pownall bloodlines. This is the rarest colour of the orpingtons! Last year we created Pure large fowl chocolate cockerels and hens as well as large fowl black splits (which are black visually but have a chocolate gene), throughout this season we will be selling birds, if you want to go on the waiting lists then please contact us. We recently showed our chocolate large fowl orpington hen at the four counties and federation show 2010 and have had a great reaction to her.
